Information for Teachers

Cross-Curriculum

Teachers within the school are expected to use ICT's in a cross curricular manner in their teaching areas and incorporate them into their pedagogies and strategies used within the classroom. This constant use of ICT's helps to strengthen the student’s knowledge in technology and leads students to become innovative and experienced in how they approach problems and real life situations with the help of their ICT knowledge.

ACARA requires that we build upon our countries education and further provide acknowledgement for our key dimensions and goals of the Australian Curriculum. Encompassing knowledge, skills, behaviours and dispositions that, together with curriculum content in each learning area and the cross-curriculum priorities, will assist students to live and work successfully in the twenty-first century.

It is expected by management that all work programs across the school show evidence of the integration of ICT's into the students learning experiences, which creates a set standard school wide. Using this standard students then know what is expected of their learning and can respond to their education in a positive and productive way.

The expanding use of ICT's outside the Digital Technologies subject areas allows all students, not just those studying technology, to become familiar with key ICT concepts and skills that are vital in education today.

Using ICT's across all subjects allows students knowledge to be strengthened, complemented and extended, as they engage in a range of learning activities with ICT demands.

The students ICT Expectations recognise that students develop ICT competence and understandings as they use ICT effectively across all learning areas.

The expectations are organised according to the following elements:

  1. Inquiring and Investigating with ICT

  2. Creating with ICT

  3. Communicating with ICT

  4. Applying social and ethical protocols and issues and ICT

  5. Managing and operating ICT

For Young people in Australia to succeed in the 21st Century digital age and to become successful learners, confident creative individuals, active and informed citizens they need to develop these ICT Skills, behaviours & attributes.
